ID: GC_Grandview4804.jpg The Colorado River in the Grand Canyon at Grandview Point (elevation at 7,399 feet above sea level). In the right foreground are gray Toroweap Formation (formed 273 million years ago, hereafter called m.y.a.) and yellow Coconino Sandstone (275 m.y.a.). In the background, the dark red rock is Pink Zoroaster Granite and the black rock is Black Vishnu Schist (1,840-1,680 m.y.a.). The Colorado River (elevation at 2,450 feet) started carving the Grand Canyon 5 or 6 million years ago. The blue green water is from the Little Colorado River and contains the minerals of calcium-carbonate and copper-sulfate that it picked up at Blue Springs located on Navajo Tribal Lands.
